As some might remember from a previous thread... my wife drew a LE muzzy tag this year. In doing so we wanted to make sure we first, had a accucate load and two, had a reliable bullet. Now that we got the accurate part figure out, i want to see if these barnes are as tougj as everyone says they are. So today we went out practicing different shooting positions that she might encounter while chasing the big stinky. When she had enough and felt confident in her shooting we busted out the 3 gallon bucket filled with sand. She shot it once, then i shot it once. They were both shot from 75 yardd. The load was 107 grains by volume of bh209 with a cci mag primer. When she shot i couldnt believe the amount of force hit the bucket with sand looking like a bomb went off inside the bucket. We were able to recover both bullets. Both bullets weighed the exact same. I was extremely impressed with the weight retention and the mushroom. Now it just sept 21st

I cant get pics to upload... they just come up black when i download. Anybody know why? I have uploaded pics 100 times and its not working now. Ill try again later

If you are using photobucket, copy the code that looks like this and just paste it here in the box where you type.

I've Seen Barnes go both ways on Animals!

Sometimes a Perfect Mushroom!

And other times just punch Holes when it didn't Expand!

Go Ahead!

Make Me take it down!

Every shot on an animal is different, even when using lead. Plus our MLs are all different.

The TEZ is a tough bullet. Without resistance, it plows thru/pencils. Meets resistance and it expands. If expansion is that important, buy the Expanders. If you want two holes most times, get the Lehigh XL.

There's no 250-300 gr. Sabot/bullet that guarantees two golf ball holes. There's no guarantees on it expanding. No guarantees on it sitting on the opposite side of the entry hole. No guarantee the bullet will do the same thing each time you use it.

But we should see most-all times consistency on a three gallon pail/sand test like this one.

Here's a 290 TMZ from 100 yards, shot bull through front shoulder, recovered under hide. I have confidence in these mz bullets

Very cool post! This is the stuff I love to see on here. Thanks for taking the time.

I'm really impressed with the retention, especially considering impact with sand.

I've been shooting the TMZ and have been nothing but happy with them.

I've used the expanders for 15 years and have never recovered a bullet from any of multiple deer and elk that didn't look just like what 505 posted. They are a thing of beauty, and if they don't stop in the animal, they leave a golf ball size hole. I imagine the tmz or tez does the same but I've never felt a need to try them.

Hey when we gonna go for a ride in the side by side shadow?

Call me, I've been so busy I haven't been out. But the Bulls will be there. Tomorrow might actually be the best day for me.

I shoot the same bullet and found it to be the most accurate of all the ones I have tried. I have an elk hunt coming up and my Omega is printing 3 rounds within 1.5" of each other at 200 yards. I use 90 grains 209 blackhorn, TEZ 290's with a remington shotgun primer.

I struggled with trying to get pyrodex and power belts to work. Spent money on different sabots/rounds. The TEZ/Blackhorn combo is amazing for me.

I've never had something not die with one hit from a 290gr TEZ.

Personally I like 110g of BH209 over a Remington STS primer.

I've always had a bigger exit than entrance too except the 2 perfect mushrooms I've recovered in bull elk shoulder and hip to shoulder deer kill.

Probably killed 20-30 critters with them.
