Scope sight in question

I've never hunted with smoke pole, only Bow or rifle. I'm shooting CVA Optima 50 Cal with 4x10x44 Konus BDC scope. My scope has BDC markers every 25 yards, starting @75 up to 250 yards. I am currently dead on bulls eye @ 100 yards.
My question is my scope has BDC lines seperating yardage in 25 yard increments 75-250 yards, should I stay ZEROED @ 100 or be 1 or 2 inches high @ 100 yards. That's my question.
All input and recommendations are greatly appreciated
Thanks..

BDC reticles get you close but are rarely right on for any standard increment (25 yard, or 100 yard increments).

For example, my BDC scope on my .06 has 100 yard ticks. The actual point of impact at 200, 300, 400 and 500 is off by a couple inches, but well within the kill zone on a deer. BDCs are not meant to be full on mil-dot accurate. But they're very good a giving a quick and "close enough" mark.

Typically the BDCs are designed to be zeroed at 100 yards (200 for some long range rifles) which keeps the subsequent ticks relatively close to the published increments. The manufactures calculate the tick distance as a compatible average to accommodate many calibers/loads.

So long answer short, keep it zeroed at 100 so that your 125, 150, 175, etc are "close enough". All said, as you can see, there is value in range time to know exactly where you're hitting with the BDC ticks.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-02-15 AT 12:14PM (MST)[p]I can't find any info on that particular scope. It should come with instructions? The closest thing I found was a Nikon BDC scope. That one is sighted in at 100 yards and then has 150, 200, and 250 sights

Also, that scope is probably set for max powder load (150 gr) with a set bullet. I NEVER use anything close to 150 gr of powder, so I doubt it would be very accurate for me.

Whatever the deal, you should just shoot it with your preferred load and see if it is anywhere close to accurate.
