Muzzleloader BH 209 cleaning

I've been shooting a muzzleloader for approx 5 years, during thus time I've been shooting Tripple 7 pellets. I'm switching To Bkack Horn 209. I've heard lots of good stuff about this powder. My question is how do you clean your barrel, when you use BH 209, I hear it's nit the same as when you use pellets. With pellets I was a bore brush and also using a wet patch with cleaning solution, followed up by dry patches, finally seasoned the bore with Bore butter.
Can any one share their cleaning experience.
Thanks

Hoppes #9, same stuff used for smokeless powder. Then I either use Remoil or Montanas x-treme for oil.

Just like a center fire rifle pushing the same projectile at the same velocity.
I find it comes clean very quick.
A patch with any decent solvent like #9.
A brush.
Another solvent patch, and then a dry one.
I usually finish with a very light coat of some corrosion protective like CLP or Ezzox.

You season a "cast" iron pan. You can't season a "steel" barrel.
You can make some build up that will reduce accuracy and possibly rust the gun.
Bore butter is okay on over powder wads but it is not going to protect your gun.

Interesting way of putting it Ron, and right on the money.

With Black Horn 209 you can shoot your gun for year before you have to figure out how to clean it. :)

Throw the bore butter in the garbage and buy a good gun oil. Clean the bore of Blackhorn and bullet residue with centerfire cleaners.

There are several cleaners on the market that will not gas the house like Hoppes #9 does. That's another product that belongs in the garbage. Spare all your household members from breathing that stuff. This is not 1970 anymore. Non-toxic, non-smelling cleaners that are just as good or better than Hoppes exist.

Really bad advice. Do you do the same with CF guns?

Thank you all for your valued opinions, one last question.
The breech plug, does it get oiled cleaned with hops 9 as well so that it won't stick or anti seize grease which I have been using b4?

there are some products out there that can clean the breach plug that come in a shake container. the one i bought was just ok, i found myself cleaning it with a small brush and some #9 too. im super anal with my cleaning so i have swabs and small small tools to get into the corners. i do use anti seize on the threads also.

i agree too about #9 being a great cologne. kind of like a dog rolling in a carcass to make them smell better!!

i use the cva anti-seize stick. my muzzy is a CVA and i just use what they recommend. its messy and sucks to clean up but two fingers loosens the breach plug every time.

I have some Boretech products for my CF, will these work on my Muzzleloader as well. I also have an ultrasonic cleaner. Can I use this for the breetch plug? Thanks

BH 209 Really is the best thing(powder wise) that I have tried in the last 15 years.

I use boretech on my TC muzzleloader. It works great!! The Breech plug depending on which rifle you have can be soaked in the ultrasonic. Take extra care to dry it out very well and don't forget the anti seze when reinstalling.
