Upgrading smoke pole

Looking to upgrade my muzzleloader. looking at the cva accura, tc triumph bone colletor and the new remington model 700. I own a older cva .50 209 primer gun that has brought me lots of joy and few very nice big muleys. I generally hunt high country and shots tend to reach 200 and little over at times. Any positive feed back on all these would be much appreciated and any down falls to any of these would also be greatly taken. thanks guys for your time!!

I purchased and used a the triumph bone collector this past season and loved it. Super light. Easy to load and clean. Used 110 grain BH 209 with a barnes 250 and 290 TEZ and it was like driving nails. Super accurate (used 1x scope). I don't know that it is worth buying the BC version over the standard triumph. I got a great deal that put the BC at the same price as the standard.

I up graded to CVA Optima V2 last year, very nice rifle. Shias a great 5x5 bull at 300 yards using Triple 7, 100 grain pellets and Hornaday & 300 grain bullet last year, this year I'll be shooting 110 grain of 209 buck horn powder with 300 grain Scorpion PT Gold.
Can't go wrong with CVA, but if you have the money Ho with the new Remington, totally awesome weapon.

The CVA accura is a super shooter , 2 tabs of pyrodex and a power belt platinum, 2 inch group at 100 yards, easy to clean , spend more if you want, it won't help

I bought the Remington Ultimate but it's not the only excellent muzzleloader out there.

Mine has been shooting almost 2400 fps and into about 1.5" at 100 yards. I installed a 2.5x8 Leupold on it for load development but will just leave it on now that the regs have been changed in Utah. It is a heavy rifle but I guess that's not a bad thing since it'll handle such a huge powder charge.

There's hardly a reason to have the Rem Ultimate unless you use a big enough scope to take advantage of it. There are simply others out there for less money and less weight that seem to shoot just fine if you want/need to use open sights or low power scopes.

Zeke

thanks for all the info.. I do hunt and live in utah so the new rules on the scope is very nice. I believe all these guns are worth owning and great choices. With the remington anyone tried other loads besides the 200 grains and rec bullet?

Yes.
I'm using BH209 (loose powder). I like the idea of being able to play up and down in smaller increments with loose powder but that's just the old reloader in me showing through.
I've tried a couple different bullets but the rem accutip seems to give me the best accuracy so far.
I hope to do a bunch more testing right away since the weather is better.

I purchased the Remington UM this past November and went whitetail hunting in Kansas. I put the Leupold 3 x 9 Ultimate Slam scope and sighted it in at 100 yards. I used a 3/4 charge, 3 - 50gr Triple 7 50 gr pellets and took a beautiful 8 point white tail at 135 yards. I have tested with full 200 gr and wow that's a wallop.

Sounds good and thanks a ton to everyone for the input. Ill go this weekend and put them all in my hands and see how they feel.

Flex,
Be sure to check with foundation here on MM.
He's a dealer and has some smokin' deals on Rem Ultimates!
He's posted info in one of the recent threads right here in the muzzleloader forum section.
Good luck with your decision.
Zeke

The 200 Grains of Triple777 is nothin but Hype!

Yes,The Gun will Safely shoot it!

If you want a Instantaneous Crud Ring with one Shot just load it with the 200 Grains of Triple777!

You'll also notice the Accuracy with that much Powder SUCKS!

Get the BH209 Powder & Experiment with different Loads!

As Zeke Stated,The Ultimate is a Heavy Gun!

The remington is built well yet bulky and very heavy, not a mountain gun. I have a triumph and I love it. Killed a 390 bull at 290 yards and non magnified scope. Would like to get bone collector, because of the feel, weight and balance. Would love to share more info with you. Love hunting with a muzzleloader.
