Remington 700 ML Peepsight suggestions

I have one of the original Remington model 700 muzzleloaders. It has a stainless steel barrel and I would like to install a Peepsight of some kind on it for an elk hunt in Nevada. If there are any of you folks that have done this I would love to hear your suggestions. Will I need to change my front site also? Thanks

Check out XS sight systems. Their Remington 700 ghost ring sight system is a winner in my opinion.

You should be able to get adjustable Williams Peep for it. I got one for my savage, but scope law changed so now it's on my shelf.

You can move it up and down if you get one with dials in the field. I researched a ton that were adjustable. The reports are they return to zero with no issue and I planned to dial it for 300 yard shoots with it. You can swap peep size to your liking as well. Their are some other adjustable ones but you jump up to $300 to 500 pretty quick designed for open sight 1000 yd comps.

I still have mine not mounted for a savage and probably with build a CO legal savage in the future.

If you just want a fixed peep Williams And xs peep as mentioned.

You won't have to change your front sight no matter what you choose on the rear, but I believe there are better front sights than the factory Remington. I'm partial to a globe front with inserts. Probably from my position shooting days. On my TC I installed a rear peep and left the original front for a season. The next year I put the front globe on, and cut my group size significantly. Just my $.02!

Thanks for the advice so far. I did put on a Williams Peepsight but had to adjust it all the way up. I may need a lower front sight. Is the globe lower then the factory Front sight? Or can I get a lower ramp to replace it with?

RE: Remington 700 ML Peepsight suggestions

Or you can do what I did with my knight. I just shimmed up the back sight. Then I added a cheep pad to get e where I wanted to be. I think this would go out to 500 yards this way. I have shot it quite a bit out to 300.
Mine has a Willams FP peep like I said set to shoot out to 300 yards. The front sight is a Lyman 17 AHB with Lee Shavers BPCR inserts.
I added a target elevation screw and a thumb knob elevation lock screw.

The rear peep I got was the Williams WGRS 700. It fit right into the receiver scope mount holea. I wanted that adjustable kind but I couldn't find it in the top receiver mount version that mounted into the scope mount holes. Where did you get yours and can I get it for the model 700 muzzleloader? The one I saw was a side mount and had to drill and tap the receiver and I don't think it was field adjustable.

RE: Remington 700 ML Peepsight suggestions

Mine is the Williams FP sight. I don't know if they make one for the 700 but I don't know why mine would not work. You might have to build a base or even use a Weaver base grind it flat and drill and tap the base. I love that I can adjust mine in the field. If I have a 135 yard shot I set the sight for that shot. If the shot is 230- yards set it and shoot.

Just curious are your dialing your wind? I have same setup for a custom savage(stevens 200 really) then UT opened to scopes so I never mounted it.

I ordered mine with just an elevation dial and in the future planned to build a 50 custom colorado legal gun and just wanted to see if you use the windage dial or just hold wind.

Thanks nice setup.

RE: Remington 700 ML Peepsight suggestions

I don't mess with windage adjustments to the sight. If I have some wind I make those adjustments in my mind and hold accordingly.
