Loose powder vs pellets

Ive been shooting my knight trying to get ready for muzzy deer and elk tag. I have noticed since switching to pellets this year my gun is hang firing for a split second. I am either thinking about putting the 209 primer conversion kit or going back to loose powder. I guess my question is will the 209 primer with a stronger spark fix the hang fire if i continued using the pellets? The pellets are sure alot easier to deal with.

How many grains are you using? When I was shooting pellets in another gun I had there was a noticeable difference when I installed the 209 conversion kit. With the 209 primer you are going to get a hotter and more consistent burn which I believe is needed if you are going to be shooting pellets.

I am just shooting 100 grains but ive researched the 209 conversion kit and everything ive read says its kind of janky. I will try loose powder my next days off and see if my groups get better and the hang fire stops.

What gun are you shooting? I did a conversion on a Traditions and it work well without problems. It's worth a shot I believe and I don't think you will be out by doing it.

I tried buckhorn 100 grains of powder with the sst 250 grains and am now shooting a 1.5" group at 100 yards. Thanks for the help fellers
