NM let me put a scope on my White so I did a little playing around with it this summer. I tried 435 grain .45 caliber no excuses with a sabot and the best group I could get was about 8 inches at 100 yards regardless of my powder amounts. So I went back to my money load of 460 grain no excuses in my .50 with 95 grains of Pyrodex P. This was my 350 yard 4 shot group. (The three smaller Shots in the bottom right are from my 28 Nosler.)

Right at dark this bull came running across the meadow to my cow call. He stopped at 133 yards, turned broadside, and I let him have it. He walked up the hill about 30 yards and just stood there for 15 minutes with his butt facing me. I wasn?t able to see where he was hit but I was confident with my shot so instead of bumping him I decided to back out and come back in the morning. When I got there at first light I found him dead 50 yards from where I left him. Not the giant I was hoping for but I'm happy that my son was able to be there. He had to head home the next day for a test.

I found the bullet just under the hide on the far side. It still weighs 456 grains.

Nice!

The Bullet Done just what it was suppose to!

Nothing Beats a Heavy Conical!

Now If We can get you to start using Real Powder/BH 209!:D

Back Me Off to 1,700 Yards,650 is a Little Close & I'm Not Comfortable with it!

A GUT SHOT at 1,700 Yards will Still Make Some Good BRAGGIN Rights so I Can Say I At Least Hit Him!

I've had such good luck with Pyrodex that I've never had a reason to try any other powder. The elk didn't know the difference.

Nice bull Marley, man I was hoping it was gonna be a great Muzz. hunt,
we had the same rut-non-rut action down south also.

Congrats. Thanks for sharing your hunting success. My old White loves pyrodex and the 250 grain Barnes expander. Always preformed for me, so I have never changed what works.

Glad to see you're still shooting "my bullets". I loved the photos and the kind words. Hope you're ok with me posting them on my site. Keep 'em coming. AKA No Excuses Dave
