Just got a new Accura V2 and put a Leupold FX3 6x42 scope on it. All set for states that allow 209 ignition and magnifying scopes, or short range seasons here in Idaho. Should be really happy with it, once our snow clears and I get to go play with it some. Will be ordering the BH209 breech plug for it also, and try fora good magnum load with Barnes bullets. I will do a search on the past posts and some other internet sites for info. Anyone have a good starting point for their own personal loads with the Blackhorn???

my mtn rifle almost has 5 holes touching at 100 yards with 90grs. I have not tried 100 or 110grs.

Good choice. I shoot the same muzzy using 100 gr (by volume) BH209 and Barnes sabots. It's produced great results out in the field.

I have never shot BH. My Accura shoots great with the 250 grain Barnes TMZ with 110 grains of 777

Thanks for the replies. I ordered a new BH breech plug this morning, and we will see just what works the best in this rifle. Can't wait to try it out.

110 gr by volume, 77gr by weight BH 209 with 250gr Barnes flat base sabots and fiocchi primers. Can?t go wrong.

This is exactly what I shoot.
I tried testing, starting at 90 grains by volume, and working me way up in 5 grain increments.
At 115 things starting going south so I backed down to 110.

I have a Accura Mountain rifle, and this load produces 3" groups at 200 yards, and dead elk..

Same muzzy. Use the Nikon muzzy scope 3x9x40
Shoot the Barnes 250 TMZ with 100 grains of 777.
At 100 yards the bullet holes touch
At 200 yards I get 2 inch groups.
Haven?t tried 300 yards yet but will probably keep 200 yards as my max

Same gun here

I shoot two triple 7 magnum pellets (120g equ., red box) with either the Hornady 250 SST or Barnes 250 TMZ. Sub moa average at 100 and 200 yards. Have shot 1/2 moa groups several times.

Tried the blackhorn (with the blackhorn breech plug) but did not get good accuracy at 110-120 grain charges and was not willing to go any lower on the powder charge as I wanted to maintain the speed/energy and flat trajectory of the loads listed above.

The pellets are also much more convenient and I can get off at least two shots before I have to swab the bore which is all I will ever need in a hunting situation. I carry a few patches with me in the field and water is all I need with the triple 7 to wet a patch and swab the bore if needed.

I was also surprised how dirty the breech plug got when shooting the blackhorn. More dirty and difficult to clean they any other powder I have shot.

The BH 209 Fouls/Blackens the Barrel Quickly!

But You can Shoot Several Shots without having to Swab/Clean anything!
