DreamSabots Suggestions

No Excuses is in the process of introducing sabots to our current line-up of solid conical bullets and could really use your advice.

We have purchased the necessary equipment to begin swaging lead sabots both in flat and boat tail bases and are interested in what weights you would like to see.

The plan is to use Harvester crush rib sabots to compliment whatever we/you come up with.

We suspect these will be a great alternative to the $1 plus per shot sabots you may currently be shooting.

Ideas?

I've liked the 285 Barnes Spitfire MZ boat tails alot in my Knight .50 caliber. Something along the lines of a 285-300 grain boat tail makes a lot of sense. I would think a longer/heavier 350ish grain would be a good option too.

a soft lead, high b.c. 325-375 grain .452 boat-tail bullet would be nice in a .50 cal harvester sabot.

In my inline, I have used the black Harvester Crush Rib 45-50 sabot. I have used the 250 grain XTP, 300 grain XTP and most recently, a 200 grain Meister 45 LC RNFP bullet in that sabot. I have also used the Hornady Great Plains bullet, but find it very difficult to load.

All bullets have killed game.

I went to the light bullet this year because of issues getting my sights to adjust. (Long story in another thread here).

I would like a lighter bullet more so than a heavy bullet in a sabot, but that is my thinking.

I do plan to try some of the heavies with the size test kit as well and see how that goes in the future.

Not sure, I have no desire to shoot a soft lead bullet at slingshot velocities. A high BC jacketed bullet on the other hand is a different story.

What was the weight.
I like Sabot XTP 295

Accuracy is the first important part. How it does on an animal is the second part. I have shot some pretty accurate bullets over the years but some just punched holes in deer and left dismal blood trails. Any kill results yet.
