Hi Guys, Have friend who has I believe the ML listed above. Short barrel 18-20". Has anyone ever shot this and if so what loads did you use? Going to start him with maxi-ball 370 lead bullet and 70gr of 2FF black powder. Any help would be great. Thanks

My friend has one of these guns.

He shoots my bullets. He uses 80 gr of Pyrodex P with an over powder wad. Then he uses my 460 gr paper patched bullets.

This is the same gun with a 50 cal green mountain barrel on it.

The Pyrodex P is technically pistol powder. It is finer and ignites better than the RS does. He may not be able to get real black powder depending where he is.

Salmon,
I used to hunt with a White Mountain 54 Cal. with 425 grain Buffalo Bullets (preferred) or Maxiball 430 grain. I found I could use 90 grains of Pyrodex RS. Any more and the rifle lost accuracy. It was a great lightweight gun for sneaking around in the woods. It is a devastating rifle at short range. For your 50 Cal, I suggest shooting Hornady Great Plains 385 grain HB-HP bullets and as much powder as can be accurately shot.

Great gun!!! my dad has 2 of these and also the tree hawk. This gun for us shot the 300gr barnes expander with I think 80 grains of 777. It has a 1-20 twist so it would shoot the sabots incredibly well.. Have fun and enjoy!!
