Where to look for elk sheds

I have been shed hunting for a few years now, but I have never found an elk shed. I was hoping that some of you more experienced guys could enlighten me as to what kind of areas you guys look for elk sheds in. I live in central Utah, and there is a lot of PJ (Pinyon/Juniper) country in the foothills and aspen and pine as you get higher into the mountains. Where do you guys look? I like to hike, but I would like to focus my time in the types of areas that are likely to be productive. Thanks for looking

Like lundellhunting7 said you got to go out and find where the elk are wintering watch them but don't push them. I have had a lot of success by hiking the elk trails, fence lines, and nice little flats in the timber. Best of luck to you!

Sunny area's, Fence crossing, Bedding area's, Edge of thick cover, open hillsides, Good glass will help find them.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-22-14 AT 10:03PM (MST)[p]Thanks so much to everyone who gave helpful advice, and thanks to you Hornkiller for showing your ignorance. Remind me again how you know such about me and how I am. No one asked you to bring in your negative BS.

Wow, hornkiller must not be able to read. The post never asked for a specific area. The best advice has been given already. Hunting sheds is no different than hunting for harvest. Scout and try to find them from a distance and check on them as often as you can. One thing to keep in mind is elk can tolerate higher elevations where snow is deeper. Try looking for south facing slopes at higher elevations that you wouldn't think elk would be in. And remember punks like hornkiller are looking for help too, otherwise he wouldn't have read your post!

Yes im ##### and no I cant read! No help needed here mrflirt but if you wanna give me a new spot to pound you can pm me the location.
