Porter, a 9 year boy, got a permit to go on the Antelope Island shed hunt with his dad. The excitement was to much to contain, so he and his dad went on his 1st scouting trip in late Feb. They hike a popular trail, and while taking a breather, dad glassed up some bone.
Porter checks out the find through his own spotter a good friend of the family gave him.
After Porter accidently bumped the tripod, he found a shed in his scope. When he announced his find, his dad says" no you didn't", but after looking through P's scope he was shocked to find a shed. After looking through his own spotter, dad confirmed it was a 4 point.
Later on the hike, dad also glasses up a 4 point shed.
Finally, they reach trails end and take a few photos to remember the trip.
After watching a few bucks for a while, they heading back to the truck.
A few weeks later, and after much anticipation and planning, the day of the shed hunt arrived. Father and son hustled up the mountain to find their treasure.
Porter got to his shed, spotted earlier and took a great ATL, his 1st, using a camera I lent him.
After picking up the shed, he decided to take a few more pics with the shed.
After pics were done, they hustled up the ridge, only to find someone had Illegally taken the head over the weekend.
The toughest part about being a parent, is explaining to a child why aldults choose to break laws. Excitement turned to dissappointment for father and son.
They finished the day with Porter finding one more shed, and dad getting skunked.
