BEst shed dog breed

Hi everyone....I am really considering getting a dog to hunt sheds with me.
Can you all give me your advise on what you may think the best breed for shed dog is?
I know a lot of you have dogs, and would really appreciate any suggestions.

Any breed of dog will work if trained properly, but I have heard that labs are the best, because honestly they live to do one thing, and that is to please their owner. Very trainable and obedient. With that being said, I have a 7 month old hound/lab mix. I can see traits of both in him, but he for sure is stubborn like a hound, and when his nose is down, he doesn't always want to listen. good luck, and remember, it comes down to training. Oh yeah, and patience, a lot of patience.

I have a lab/german shorthair mix and he is great! He has the pleasing nature of a lab and the energy of the shorthair. He's more heat tolerant because he is not quite as heavy and thick as a lab. He also has the pointer trait that he uses his eyes more than just his nose to find antlers (seems to help with 1 year old+ antlers) And he loves to go, he gets mad if I leave him or he thinks I leave him, he would go every day if he could. On the negative side,(and these are all probably because of my lack of training skill) he can lose focus easily, when he is in the zone, he does great looking for and finding antlers but if we are in a place with tons of birds or rabbits he's kinda wrecked for the day, the old instincts take over. He also loves to chase deer (and that's no good if you're trying for minimum pressure and stress especially during scouting in late winter or near fawning season) I can call him off but he really, REALLY likes to chase deer so I have to call him off every 30 seconds or so until we get away from the deer.
With crossbreeds you don't always get a perfect balance of the traits of both breeds but my dog has the best of both it seems to me. I don't know about other breeds but he is a good one. Really though, it seems like the training is more important than the breeding.

A good shock collar helps a ton. I have a lab and man you really have to train them hard.

Spend some money if you can afford it and get a pudelpointer. One of the best for shed hunting. To quote something I read. THey are the ferrari of shed hunting dogs.... just be warned they are crazy when its not shed season or grouse season. They need to run. a lot...
