Not inches but quantity... Picked up #216 today of fresh shed deer YTD. Pisscutters seem to be having a re-building year or I just suck at finding good ones. Here is the pisscutter pile.

Thats an impressive pile. I've been at it over 25 years, would of like to have kept all mine to see the mound I could of had. Oh well......
1 year or 20. Still awesome pile. Congrats

So you found 216 deer sheds in 8-10 Weeks? Wow! That is pretty impressive. Do you have a job or family? I thought I got out alot, that is unreal!

Bess, I leave no chalk anymore, I used to but need to deflect competition from good spots so I haul it home or bury it in this current climate, peckerheads will not return to where they find zero.

I have no drones nor even an atv, just knowledge and motivation.

The dog has no scars other than mental, (comb over...) the lab on the other hand has frankenpecker from leaping really good fences, was at the vet till 9:30 pm on a sat night holding his pecker together while the doc stitched it into something he could lick...

My wife married a real go-git-r... when she's done working I go get her... It is a lazy man can't get his wife that second job.

I have no count on other than fresh shed, (several wheelbarrows full though) stopped counting anything else 20+ years ago. Last year ended at 206 deer and 82 elk, a good year. In all my best yrs of deer 206, 206, 216. For elk only broke 100 once @ 162. This year hasn't even started as 80% are still carrying here, but the morons are already chasing them for miles, I have 5 accidental elk so far.

I'm sitting at about the 200 miles walked YTD, usually hit 4-700 by the time the green up kills it for the year.

I wasn't going to respond as I'm extremely jealous, but those were some funny fuggin quotes! LMMFAO!

I used to shed hunt that country and loved it, but the jack wagons got ridiculous until it wasn't fun anymore. Haven't been back since but I do miss some great areas! Good luck finding more Squirrel!

That's one heck of a pile Squirrel, congrats!

Squirrel , in an earlier post you mentioned that the deer on the I-70 corridor looked horrible and that it was going to be a tough winter. How many deadheads have you picked up and how does this compare to years past?

YBO, it was/is bad, just really ended a week ago or so as spring has been a long time coming. One of the worst 5 I have seen (about 3rd I'm thinking) but then they are all bad, some are stunningly so.

My guess would be about 60-80% fawn mortality, with lots of spikes and forkies in there as well. Very few of the old bucks as is the usual, bullets do them in sooner or later. I found no dead ones with big pedicles this year, from this winters kill. It will be a missing generation, 2 out of the last 5, not a good direction to be going in.

Coupled with a "kill 'em all" philosophy at the dow with a "print" button I fear our glory days are a thing of the past, it was an awesome run. We had what everyone else wants and we are desperately trying to go where everybody else is. But for 10 years there it was way cool to watch them grow up.

We are now having meetings to "suggest how to have more mule deer"... Kinda like a rancher who shoots half his cows in fall, doesn't feed the remainder through the winter then in spring says..."Damn I don't have too many cows out there in the pasture" whodathunkthat???

I think I need a therapy hike, feeling a little soapboxy this am.
