So we took the kids out trying to find some sheds, came up empty a few times now. They were bummed, sad, a couple cried cause they couldn't find any. So what I'm asking is what are some tips? Where to look? Etc... I'm not asking for your secret spot or honey holes just a general idea of where I can take them. We took them out to the vernon area oday, seen some deer tracks, but not alot. Seen quite a few antelope to. So any info would be greatly appreciated thanks.

90% are still on the deer. I'd wait till end of march to start looking.
Also what I do for my kids, is when I find sheds hunting/hiking when they are not along I keep them hidden.
When I take the kids out, I bring one shed for each hidden in my pack.
I sneak away, drop one and kind of lead/push each kid so they find it. They are happy and don't know the difference.

Good luck.

Don't make the focus of the outing about finding shed antlers. Look for something you know you find. The sheds if you find them will be a bonus.

If you can get out and see where there are deer or at least fresh tracks, that helps. A lot of time I will see a bunch of deer without antlers, then go hike that area. A lot of time I get skunked, but sometimes I do find antlers. Tell the kids not to get too discouraged. On the hunts I've taken them on, I'm lucky to have a stash of smaller antlers, which I will plant. I thought the older kids would catch on that all of a sudden we seem to be finding a bunch! ;-). You have to be careful, on a family elk hunt, I did this...then all the kids wanted to do is go look for antlers! Just try different spots...near springs, tree lines, road or fence edges are good places...try and size up the terrain...bedding places, cover, etc. Also, just stress the difference and importance between "hunting" and "finding". There will be less discouragement. Its all part of the game.

Like other said. Make the hike and trip about being out and finding antlers the bonus.

Most deer are still packing and a couple weeks will leave fresh bone on the ground.
