Here is a video I threw together real quick. Fast forward through the talk to get to the core content if you want. All I can say is that I am impressed so far. We'll see how she does here soon with "wild sheds." ha!

I have a Golden retriever and a Lab/Healer mix that both love to shed hunt. I started them by hiding sheds in the back yard. It just takes persistence and a bread that likes to please and or find things.

An update for you all. I took my dog out and she found 3/7 sheds that I found on first day. She found two brownies and one white. It seemed like she was pretty focused for the first 2 hours and then progressively lost focus and was easily distracted by jack rabbits, cotton tails, mice and other smells in the woods. I know she is still a pup but the shed hunting just isn't as quick of a reward as bird hunting. Next day she quickly picked up a brownie and then missed a whitey. Last day I only was able to get out for an hour and she missed two that I picked up.

Overall, I was pleased with her success but need to get her on more sheds that aren't contaminated with my scent. I believe, as you watch in the video, that my scent is on the training sheds which aids her ability to quickly find the sheds that I've hidden. Fortunately, it is still early in the season for her to find more freshies.
