Does anybody out there have any pics on how the country looks in units 34 and 36? Just curious cuz I've never been there.

Those are great pics. Ive mostly hunted Black-tailed and the country looks a lot like that. At what elevation do you take you pics?

WOW, I love that country! Brings back memories of my hunt in 36C. Fell in love with the country and the hunt, and wished that I could move there.

Quest,

The picture that D13r posted of MINE- is unit 33. I posted a picure from unit 36b which is a stone's throw from the border. Really good coues country just beware of the backpack hikers if are going to hunt there. Here is a picture of 34A. Red Rabbit has posted some outstanding pictures of the units that you have requested. Go to coueswhitetail.com if you want more info , they may not readily give up info , but stick around there for a bit and you will learn lots about how/where to hunt coues.

I'm interested in the left over tags for Coues deer, specifically units 34A and 36B. What are your thoughts on either of these units? Thanks for posting the pic! That's some beautiful country...it reminds me of a unit in California where I used to hunt Black Tail Deer. I will definitely check out the other website for those other pics. I appreciate all your help!

Quest-

Send me a PM...I am going to be hunting blacktails here in Cali this year. First time. I like to work on a "quid pro quo" status. you help me, I'll help you.

They love the ocotillos. I believe they think it is a 'safe zone'. Not the clearest of pictures but you get the idea. We see lots of does on the hunts...

azpackhourse that one nice buck! How long are his beams? Looks like if they didn't hook up they would have touched. Thanks for posting everyone looks like some great coues country.

I don't have the score sheet here but I believe they were right at 17 1/2", he wrapped around real tight so from the side his beams didn't appear to be that big. They are 3 1/4" apart.
He has good mass also, if only his eyegards were longer he'd have made the magical 110" mark.

bubbas,
I had seen this buck while helping a buddy on a javelina hunt in January, I placed a camera in July of that year and found him again and kept an eye on him for months. I had the second hunt and went in on the first day of my hunt and glassed him up in the first hour, he was about 1 mile from where I had my cam. Planned my stalk and after about 1 1/2 hours relocated him as he had bedded, shot him in his bed through the neck at 232yds. Spent another 5 1/2 hours getting him out of there.

Here is some south country from last weekend, it is like a jungle down there.

Great work. That is how it is done. Congrats on a great buck. It is beautiful down there right now.

Everything down here is overgrown, with tall weeds and lots of grass, the tree limbs are sagging to the ground because of the water they have received and it's pretty hard to see through any of the vegetataion . You have to get high and use your glasses , find something bedded down or getting ready to and do a stalk . I'm talking about 34a near Madera Canyon and Elephant head right now, Haven't been out much further than that, yet.

Lifetimehunter we went to the south east corner to see what the country look like and that just what it look liked.
