I didn't want to waste anytime in 2010 getting started with my hunting season so when I got the chance go to Mexico with my dad and some friends for a coues deer hunt I jumped on it. We drove down through Tucsan, AZ and across the border down to Sonora (don't drive it was a joke)and started hunting last Monday. I was the only bowhunter in the group so I went to a waterhole early to get my blind set up. I was a bit nervous because the waterholes were a bit big with the far side being 66 yards. I had plenty of coues deer hit the water but most were does and small bucks. With hot weather and a lack of rutting activity it was tough. After 5 full days in the blind I finally got my chance. I saw a nice coues buck coming to the water. He stopped to drink at 48 yards. He was facing straight on drinking and I waited at full draw for him to turn. As he turned to walk away I settled the pin and took the shot. It wasn't my best hit but he didn't go far and I quickly followed up a second shot to finish him off.

He scores right around 95" and I have to say they are really cool animals.

P.S. I also killed a bobcat with my bow at 62 yards out of the ground blind.

Mtquivers, Awesome job dude, just outstanding and why to stick with it!! Your one of the very few I have heard of going south of the border with a bow and taking a truly magnificent Coues!! Congrats, you deserve it. Any pictures of the Bobcat?

Fantastic buck. Great job in sticking with it......... Thanks, Allen Taylor......

No the deer were not spooked by the blind. I tried to brush it in a little but neither the coues deer or mule deer seemed to mind it much. Some of them never even looked at it.

Is this the Allen Taylor that went to Sonora with my dad last year?

Wow, that's amazing. They must not have been pressured much. Every coues deer I've ever seen would come out of their skin each time they saw a new blind. helluva buck!

Jason, I didnt go to Sonora last year, so must be another guy. Been to Sonora a few times though. Thanks, Allen Taylor......
