i went out today looking for some coues/sheds/check out a new area/test my new binos/tripod/spotting scope.
i seen two coues does and one cow elk. the elk was bedded under a mesquite next to a prickly pear at about 4100 ft. i also found some blisters. as it turns out im just as out of shape as i thought i was. i thought there was a helicopter fallowing me for a while, then i realized it was my heart trying to beat out of my chest.
i knew i liked my binos but this was the first time i had mounted them on a tripod. what a difference it makes. when i got to the trail head it was 31 outside, then i got back it was 81. i digiscoped the elk but it was close to noon and hot so the heat waves coming up from the canyon made it impossible to focus.
all in all a good trip. but i found several areas that will require a hike to check out. i think it will be a good area to hunt but we'll see if it looks like a pumkin patch come deer season.
