LAST EDITED ON Jul-19-10 AT 06:18PM (MST)[p]When gates get locked and access restricted, that pushes hunters elsewhere. As far as I know, there are two access points in the klondyke area as of last year. The gal with access into landsman camp had it locked. Was letting a few hunters through but not everyone. Guess her lease was coming up and new owners taking over from what she said; no access will be granted. So, that puts hunters all over from klondyke road south in 31. Areas that used to not get too much pressure are getting hammered now; and I mean HAMMERED.
Lots of folks used to hunt klondyke in 31. With restricted access, they have no choice but to move. More hunters hunting equals lower deer numbers elsewhere. This should be one of Game and Fishes top priorities, to try and work with landowners and restore access. It really stinks this is happening. Actually its a shame and unless a concerted effort is made its only gonna get worse.
