Ok, first let me say I'm an AZ native (48 years) but I have only hunted Coues deer 2 times (1981 patagonia area, unit 22 in 2006 w/ my daughters). Both of my daughters have 8 points for deer and they have told me they want to hunt deer again. The problem is time and location. One will be a junior at UofA and the other will be freshman in college. They want to hunt but they can't miss school. So.... the December hunts will have to work. I'm a school teacher, so I usually have time to hunt at end of year. My daughters are in very good shape but to be honest, this just needs to be a fun hunt with dad and girls. I'm more interested in seeing quantities of deer rather than quality. I want them to have fun for a few days and allow me to spend time with my girls.

If you were in my shoes, what hunt would you apply for. I live in the NW part of valley. I've always been a little leary about the border issues and I sure don't want any problems while I have the girls. More than likely, we would be camping in our tent.

If you would rather email me:

thanks in advance for your suggestions and thoughts.

John I have a very good friend who lives and guides in Arizona. His name is Jared Nichols . He has some of the best couse deer hunts you could find. His web page is nicholsguidingservice.com. He offers guided only hunts where you provide your own camp and food but you will be guidied. It would be a great expierence for your girls I can promise you that. Not only would he put you in alot of deer but you would have the chance at bucks of a lifetime. Best of luck notags2.

we hunted south of Patagonia this year with Borderland Adventures. They have a great outfit, reasonable priced and had a great hunt. saw lots of deer. We did hunt on the border but never had any issues. Did see plenty of illegals but no issues. Im sure you could just call and talk to matt woodward at borderland adventures and see what he thinks. he is a great guy.

Definitely get those daughters out hunting! Before you know it they will be married with kids and won't have the time. With those bonus points they should be able to draw just about any late coues hunt they want. What I might consider doing is have one of them draw in 2012 and make the other one wait until 2013 so you guys can all go two years in a row.

I second calling or emailing Matt at Borderland adventures. Since you have only hunted coues a couple of times and you are going to be on a very sought after hunt I would make the most of it by getting his professional help.

I ended up putting the girls in for the late unit 33 hunt. The results are out and they did not get drawn. They had 6 points this year so next year they will have 7 and hopefully that will be their lucky number.

Thanks for the replies and PM's

John
