I'm planning on booking a Coues deer hunt in Mexico for 2016/17. Does anyone have any outfitters that they would recommend I look into or any that I should avoid. Also, is it best to pick dates early in the season or later? Thanks!

Late December and first couple weeks of January would be best. There are a lot of good outfitters to go with but some I'd suggest checking are jay scott, Wade lemon (one of the more expensive ones) , borderland adventures.

I'll second the Borderland adventures vote, but I might be biased since I guide for them.
Generally the peak of the rut is on around January 12th every year. Deer can and will be killed from early December all through January but 8-20 of January is when I feel the hunting is the best for rut activity. I can answer any questions you might have if you want to shoot me a text or give me a call.

LAST EDITED ON May-10-16 AT 09:52PM (MST)[p]Thank you both for the input. I've got it narrowed down to three, Sonora Dark Horn, Jay Scott, and Borderland Adventures. I plan to book something this week.

Here is a picture of my Coues deer that I got on my January hunt in Sonora. I shot him a little before dark on the first day.

Thanks! Yes, it was definitely a fun hunt. I'm considering going again next year if I don't draw any of my out of state tags.
