Unit 8 Coues deer tag again!

So I had that late Unit 8 deer tag last year, and killed a smoker buck. When the draw opened up this year, I thought about just buying a point, but thought what the heck - with the random chance now, I might as well apply. Imagine my surprise to find that I had drawn a tag again. Just got off the web site, and see it is Hunt #1079 for the October hunt.

I will be down for the Sept. 2-11th antelope hunt, then leave my trailer in Williams and return in 4 more weeks for the deer hunt. This will be a challenge because I've only hunted this unit in Nov. and Dec. I'm assuming they will be locked down much more in heavy cover, and water may be the key to finding them early. Anyone with some info or pointers is welcome to give advice. Thanks

So the early hunt kicked my azz this Oct. I hunted 8 days and while I saw WT does every day, I never saw a buck. Tried hiking, glassing, sitting on tanks. Last week when we were back for elk hunting, we saw some great bucks in all the usual places. Frustrating!
