I finally got my coues mount done (only took me a year and half). I hope nobody minds me posting it, but I thought maybe it's okay since it's my own deer.

Beautiful work......I really like the character/Alive look you created. Nice job...... Thanks, Allen Taylor......

Wow, I have to agree with Allen. That's outstanding... I especially like the angle in the bottom pic.

Great work!

Looks real good from the pics. Muscle definition in the ear butts is shown. A litte pink in the ears for the blood. You did a great job from what I can see.

That looks awesome. I love the color of those horns. I'm hoping that I can get some taxidermy work done for me this year!

Awesome nmtaxi! Those sure are some pretty little deer. I should have mine back in a couple of weeks, I hope it looks as nice as yours!
Thanks for posting!

nmtaxi,
Awesome job! I like the position of the ears with that turn, makes it more realistic.

I'm with Josh on this one...
I love the motion in the ears.
I enjoy watching them
when they do that!

Great looking work. Hopefully some day I can get one of them little guys

Thanks guys. I used one of Chuck Meacham's forms. He makes a great coues form. Here is a pic of the final product.

Very cool. You can actually "see" what the deer is thinking.... he pauses for a second while chewing, kinda staring into space while concentrating on rotating that right ear around to zero in on the source of a sound... not yet alarmed but running through the list of possible sources in his instinctual library... was that a pine squirrel droping a cone or was that nmtaxi getting ready to drop the hammer...

Talented work.

nmtaxi,

Great looking mount! I really like how you have blended the colors on the nose and brought the mount to life. Exceptional work!

On a side note , I was wondering if could you tell me where you obtained the prickely pear for the habitat...I have a javilina that I'm building a habitat for and I'm having a hard time locating relistic looking cactus..

Thanks,

Thanks for the compliments guys.
Kevin, I bought that prickly pear from Roy Cogburn. I had to paint them and put the needles in them, but was happy with the look. His # is (505)296-2871.

Many thanks nmtaxi....I will get in touch with him!

Keep up the Great work!....I have enjoyed viewing all of your pictures that you post here on MM.
