i have always hunted 36b in november. but this year, for some reason dad wanted to put us in for the october hunt. i am wondering what the differences i am going to see are deer activity, how early they bed. i know its going to be hot as hell! and besides that i am not looking forward to only 4 days of hunting. i like to be out there for atleast a week. i know where we are going to hunt but what can we expect in october as compared to november.

I've hunted in October the past two years Casey. Both years generally went like this; Deer up & moving until 8:00-9:00AM, then tough glassing for several hours, then maybe a little mid-day to late afternoon activity, then surprisingly little activity in the evenings. Seemed like the mid-day activity was usually deer adjusting to the shadows & moving their beds.

The pattern actually seemed about the same for the both the last two years, even though last year was much cooler & wetter during the hunt than the previous year. I didn't hunt any water holes either year, but have heard that it can be effective to watch trails to/from water during the mid-day when the weather is hot.

Good luck!

With only ten days between the Oct and Nov seasons, I would not expect much difference in behavior and the temp-still warm.
In October , you have first crack at the deer. Watch the saddles between north and south sides, and glass the bedding areas or water areas in midday.

Casey, the biggest problem I have run into on both the hunts is the extra people out for muley and coues at the same time. I end up having people spooking deer. I think the October hunt you need to really be set up and be glassing before first light. I found in the 36 units that the deer were up for around 1hr then bedding down pretty quick in the mornings. Get in there early and spot your buck before he beds........ Thanks, Allen Taylor......

I picked up a left over tag for 36b this year for the November hunt. Have never hunted this area and was looking for any help. Ant good spots strategy anything at all is alot of help. Trying to tag my FIRST DEER!!!!
