Has anyone been out yet looking for pigs? How's the season looking? Good numbers this year? I'll be hitting up 37b and 33 for the deer/pig sticking combo.

I drew the same tag. I haven't been out in 33 or 37B yet but I have seen quite a few in other areas. Should be a good year. Which unit are you going to hunt in? I will be in 33. We have done pretty good the last couple years. Good luck.

We hunted 33 last year and finally got on a good herd of pigs on the last day of our 5 day hunt. They were in thick brush and the wind switched while I was waiting for a clear shot. Saw lots of coues though, just couldn't get any closer that 70-80 yards without getting busted. The winds were swirling something fierce. This year I think we'll be up in 37b, but we have not yet finalized things.

I'm wishing I had a 23 tag, because we saw javelina everywhere, everyday! And tons of quail.....pretty cool deal.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-26-05 AT 08:48PM (MST)[p]I also have that tag and know where four herds are generally located, 2 in 37B and 2 in 33. I will be driving a red Chevy Z71, if you see it say hi. Most likely be in the Redington Pass area on News Years Day.

Here in AZ. I have been out twice so far. Once we were mainly looking for pigs and the second time we were looking for deer. we got into pigs the first time but couldn't close the deal and I was within 20 yds of a real nice buck the second time but didn't know it was there. We had glassed it coming into a wash so I headed out to cut it off and lost it. My buddy was trying to give me hand signals from the ridge but I couldn't understand what he was trying to say. I had stopped and was glassing back up at him trying to see which way the buck was when it decided it had had enough and busted out of there. I think I really like the ham hunts more because it forces you to go out for the whole weekend. It seems like when you have the whole month to hunt there is always something else coming up so you put off hunting until the next weekend and before you know it the end of the month is there and your scrambling to get out. Good luck everyone.

I've been out 3 times and have yet to see a pig. Have found tracks and all but no actual sighting. I'm hunting an area that I wouldn't believe there would be very many deer and I'm seeing quite a few. No deer tag though. I have one more outing planned and that is next weekend. Wish me some luck!

Had a great hunt. Thanks to a very nice local who showed us around, we saw lots of piggies and I took a nice one home.

i would like to report that javelinas smell and taste very badly, but are a nice excuse to get outta the house. just use blanks and bent arrows with blunts and you will have a successfull hunt.

Here is my last day Javelina. This was the first herd that I had seen all month.

I killed one in 37A two weeks ago. It was a tough hunt to say the least. I saw good numbers of javelina, but most were in some steep nasty country which made things difficult.

We hunted in NM this past weekend and harvested 2 large Javelinas. My friend (left) shot a sow that weighed 42 lbs and I shot a boar that weighed 54 lbs. Sure is fun to hunt these critters. We killed both Javelinas on friday, one at 8 and the other at 11. I had my wife to be and our 2 month old son along for the ride. He enjoyed his first hunt but he hated taking a picture in that bright southwest NM sun!
