AZ comission decision for coues tags disappointment

I'm sure there are more individuals than myself that are extremely dissatisfied with the commisions decision to not consider the survey results that the hunters submitted against the Dec. coues hunt recommendations. It is a shame that they would state that it is not a scientific study and then approved the recommendations. I'm not sure if anyone agree's with me but if they would not listen to the voice of the customer on the survey results then maybe they will listen if no one applies for any of those earlier season permits. Just a suggestion, I do not plan on applying for any of the early hunts and if no one else did they might just realize to get those dollars back that they should take our input into consideration. Good luck to all in the Dec draw!

Many things about this have caused alot of people to be angry. Take for example the surveys/comments from conservation groups that the commissioners took into account on the proposed Elk changes and the commissioners left the seasons as they have been. This was not a scientific survey and they went along with the sportsmen. Now they do a complete reversal on the coues situation and yet the general hunting community provided more specific input through the online survey that AZGFD and Arizona Deer Association put together than what was provided during the Elk public comment. The commissioners are/were probably upset with the various conservation groups who pushed to vote in the 10% cap as law and take the authority out of the commissioners hands. Maybe this coues thing was a slap in our faces but for me it just shows how much closer we need to watch the commissioners (who are appointed by the Gov) on how they operate and raise a stink if/when they do things counter to the constituents wishes........... Thanks, Allen Taylor......

Allen, it probably has something to do with which outfit has the most clout politically, too. the rmef has a bunch. not to say that the ADA doesn't, but they ain't as hefty as the elk boys. they pack a lotta the blame as to why we have elk all over in the desert and cedars too, while the deer herds suffer in those areas. i like elk and am glad to see em thrive, but they need to be weeded out of non-traditional places. also, them ADA boys are purty pesky and ain't afraid to tell the commission to piss up a rope when need be and the commission takes every chance to swat at em. the rmef is pretty smooth when it comes to gladhandin'. it really looks to me like the azgfd is trying to make coues deer the javelina hunt of the fall. whitetail are doing pretty well right now and they look at em as a source of $$$$. just like livestock. sell em all while the price is high. let out a buncha tags so everyone can get a third or 4th choice permit and keep their money. just like pigs. of course that's just my opinion, but i ain't never been wrong yet.

RLH just to let you all know that it was the bowhunters and Arizona Elk Society who headed up the Elk survey not RMEF
I have nothing against either orginazation but credit is due to the correct orginazation.

As for the ADA in my opinion, The sportsman's overturned a major decision for Elk by producing a internet survey. When the ADA started there survey the Commissioners said to them selves we had better stop this NOW.
If all these Orginazations think all they have to do is produce a survey and we will change our mind we will not accept this and just like they did they put a STOP to that in a hurry.

I bet the next orginazation who tries a survey will thing hard before spending the money to get zero results.

The ADA did a excellent job at there survey, All pointing to what we thought sportsman wanted but the commissioners clearly spoke and stated that they did not believe this was the majority of sportsman's wanted.

This whole thing stinks but what stinks worse is the mould growing on the ADA. new blood is badly needed in that organization, else it will surely die on the vine. One sure way to get more cooperation out of the G&F would be to get as far as possible from Pete C. The man has a mouth full of venom for anyone who doesn't see things his way, and the ADA won't be taken seriously in this neck of the woods as long as he's associated with the org.

Seems to know his way around the legislature, but is much better at making enemys than building bridges.

Way to go coues coues, your very first post and you rip someone and an organization, why don't you change your name to chump chump. What have you ever done for wildlife? Is your real name commissioner Hernbrode or McClean. perhaps Rathner?

I am betting on "Rathner" or a friend of his. Couescoues there are times when you need venom whether you like it or not, of course if you are afraid to use your real name we will never know how to respond to your nonsense.

I believe that the commission simply did not agree with the results of the survey. They know that the survey is valid and it represented the opinion of over 6,000 sportsmen. The chose to ignore the results, and that is there right. I certainly don't agree with their decision but...I just wish they would have told us that they intended to ignore the survey if it did not turn out the way they wanted.

LAST EDITED ON May-23-06 AT 03:02AM (MST)[p]The ADA needs ACTIVE members! Quit complaining and volunteer to do something!!! It say's your from Tucson couescoues. What are YOU doing for deer? We could use more support from the southern part of the state, but it often seems that folks get too caught-up in the politics and forget what the end goal is. If you don't like a particular person, so what, don't interact with them and move on. Complaining is a HUGE waste energy!!! :-(

I've been a member & actively involved for a couple of years, and the general apathy just kills me. It doesn't take that much energy to help a little, and the rewards are great.

I have to back-off of my involvement a bit for a while because I just have too much going on, but will gladly jump-in again when time allows.

Real name? OK 'muley62', I'll start using my real name right away. ;-) You show me yours & I'll show you mine, ok? what a frigging idiot! Do you realize how stupid you look?

Sometimes venom is needed? again, you demonstrate your stupidity. LIsten to some honest input instead of your idol for once, and maybe things will change. How do you think the ADA is ever going to be taken seriously by the G&F or any other org as long as you have that cancer leading the way? What happened to AZSFW? Failed as expected due to the _sshole fronting the operation. Get your head out of the sand dude.

Brett, my name is Chris Denham and you can find it on my profile as well as everyone else that post here. You chose to post a fake name on your profile which is why I asked for your name. I thought I might know you but I have never heard of you.

As for AZSFW, we recently got the 10% NR cap passed as a state law. The commission opposed it but it was passed and signed by the govenor. We are in the process of securing $5 million dollars for wildlife habitat work in AZ. Failed? I don't think so!

I am always interested in honest input but the only input you have given so far is to insult people. Have you given some intelligent input that I have missed?

Showing my stupidity? You might want to choose your words more carefully. I am not hiding anywhere.

LAST EDITED ON May-23-06 AT 06:26PM (MST)[p]I hate to say it like this, but I am going to. Talking about this and doing something about it is totally different, it is kind of like voting if you don't vote you don't have a right to complain about the outcome or results, in this case if you weren't at the meeting or directly involved with people that were then you need to quit complaining and do something. Being a member of an organization is a good thing, but you need to be involved, and you don't need to be a member of any group to go to these commission meetings and state your opinion, I learned that and will be there every chance I get and will let them know how I feel about what goes on. I went to the commission meeting for the first time and was really pissed at the way a few commissioners acted, I didn't speak, I definately should have and will from now on, but Chris Denham did, he went through all the questions on the survey for them and answered any other questions they had, he was the voice of all of us that took that survey, not just the ADA or AZSFW, I am not a member of either of those groups but I did take the survey and he couldn't have done better in representing me, the one problem with that is I should have got up and let them know he did represent me and the survey did represent what I think. The only problem was there were probably less than thirty of us there, thirty people don't represent sixty five hundred, six hundred might, one hundred would have been a good showing, I will be there from now on, and I hope every damn person that took the survey will to.

KGaines: you are absolutely right on. Most people just complain about what is happening but very few get involved to make changes. I know the commissioners and the AZGFD really wants to see more people out at the meetings to give them a true sense of "the peoples voice". I dont like all the politics in hunting today, but that is where everything seems to be heading. Any one of us can complain about one or more conservation group but getting out to meetings and getting involved in conservation is really where your voice/actions will be heard. couescoues, dont take this post as against you please, this is a general post to all hunters. We all need to complain but we need to back it up with action by getting involved in a conservation group and showing up at meetings. Dont just send in your annual 25.00 membership and think things are fine. Take the extra step and get involved even though you dont have time. Make it a priority. Thanks, Allen Taylor......
