Jan 07 Coues hunt

Well, I decided to finally not sell hunts on a ranch I lease and take a few friends down so we can hunt some Coues. Its going to be a blast, there will be 6 of us down there hunting a 25000 acre ranch that is full of coues deer. We are going to be hunting the week between Christmas and New Year, rut should really be going. A couple of the guys going are MM Members so we should have some great pictures to post.

Hey Drum. Good luck on the hunts, sounds like a blast.
What state are you hunting? When we did our Mexico hunt, the rut was the middle of January, so I'm assuming your hunt is in the states.

Hope your group has a better than great time and the coues herd suffers cull of the Giagantuans. Those bigger bucks eat too much to grow their horn, and harrass/haze the young ones, and you know that's not acceptable social behavior ;-)

Don't forget to enter the coues contest iffin it takes place.

I will be down in Sonora. Those deer typically start rutting a week or so before the mule deer. I have seen tremendous rutting activity on this ranch even before Christmas. They will still be rutting in mid Jan but we are hitting it early. 2 years ago we killed a 100", a 102" and a 107" but my hunters saw 10 bucks that would gross over 110" over the course of their week. Its a difficult ranch to hunt because its so damn thick but thats what I like about it. There are some BRUISERS on this place.
