Just got back from Iraq this spring. My wife moved me from Utah to Southern NM and I would really love to hunt Coues next year. I really don't have any Idea on one unit or the other. I don't want to ask for anybodies Honey Hole or anything but just a unit that I would have a decent chance at seeing some deer. Please???

Units 23 and 27 would be the better coues units. 24 and 26 to a lesser degree.

Where at in Iraq, and where at in NM??? I got back from Iraq in September. I grew up in Silver City, NM, and now live in Eagar,AZ. NM Units 21, 22, 23, 24, 27 all have Coues. You looking for a rifle hunt?

Ya Rifle for sure I have hunted alot with my bow growing up, but I have yet to wound or kill any one thing ever. I just don't have what it takes I guess. I am living in Las Cruces now. Thanks for the input.

>23 - there are no coues
>deer in unit 23!!!
>Maybe 43 - now that
>unit has some whoppers!!!
>Good luck!!! :)
>CB

What do you mean there are now Coues deer in Unit 23??? That unit is loaded with Coues!!! Many darn fine bucks have come out of unit 23. Primarily the Burro Mountains. The Burro Mtn. portion of 23 has very limit tags, but the unit is huge and outside the Burros is easy to draw. Try around Glenwood for along the AZ line for Coues.

ASU....do you mean Unit 23 in AZ? because Unit 23 in New Mexico is LOADED with Coues. Also Unit 27, saw quite a few last year down in the bootheel during my brothers muzzeloader hunt.

I gotta believe that CB was funnin'and pulling the wool down about the coues population in NM23. Guess the smiley face shoulda been a wink.
