Tame Couse Deer?

Does anyone know of any bucks that live in areas where you can view these deer without heading deep into the bush or getting all stealthy? I've heard that in some places in the east, the white tail deer in and around some parks are not spookey (I've never seen a white tail that's not spooky, but I'm told there are some), I wonder if there's a similar place for couse deer out west, or if even they pick up those habits?

LAST EDITED ON Jul-11-07 AT 08:23AM (MST)[p]As a matter of fact there is a such place in Fort Bayard hospital near Silver City. I've seen does out on the lawns and i've seen bucks chaing does near the resident houses. Jamaro used to work there as a Custodial technician he he :) I'm sure he's seen a few.

T,

If you find one, let me know.

Getting GOOD photos of live Coues bucks is their native habitat is tough. I haven't been able to find a place in 35+ years. :-( When I wrote the book about them, I did manage to scrounge up a few pix other folks had taken, but none of them were top quality. -TONY

You can see some not-so-spooky Coues deer in Coronado National Memorial and around residences in Ramsey Canyon near Sierra Vista. I've had nice bucks just stand and watch while I drove by in a vehicle. I'm not giving up any big secrets, since you can't hunt in either place.

Tfinal,

Looking for a new challenge like them GNP goats ???

PS- I couldn't help myself, you were leading with your chin.

I was going to say Coronado Natl Monument.

Also, the EAST side of Cochise Stronghold. There is a no hunting area that runs up to the campground (also the end of the road). In the winter and spring you can always find deer along that road around dusk. The does are pretty tame. The bucks more tame than wild deer. I posted a photo of a doe I took from this spot about a year and a half ago.

Good luck

this is an old post but thought id post incase anyone is still interested. just east of nogales airport in AZ there is a lake with lots of camping etc. there are several near the check in to the park that you could easily shoot with a decent lens.
