I have hunted G-1 for the past 35+ years. This is the late season for the C-4 zone. By this time of year the deer that are scattered throughout the higher elevations begin their migration to the foothill country. For the most part because the season is only 9 days there is high pressure on the migrations routes. Also we have seen a decline in the deer population over the last 20 years. The best hunting for G-1 is in the foothill areas because the deer are bunched up and not as scattered. Only problem is that almost all of the foothill area is private, unless you drew a Tehama Wildlife Area Permit. I am lucky enough to have a good place to hunt in the foothills and have done very well over the years. If you want to send me a private message, I can give you the name of private areas. Larry.
