Scouting question

Hi all,

I hunted in an area last year that had a lot of rubs on 6 in. trees. I havn't seen any fresh rubs up there yet and I wonder if I am jumping the gun a little. A buddy of mine gave me a treestand for my birthday and I am wondering about placing it over the rubs. Anybody ever try this and how did it work?

Thanks
Stan

I don't know where you are scouting but up here in Washington all the bucks I have seen are still in full velvet. I would expect to start seeing rubs maybe by the middle of next month.

Razaboo...the bucks here in Oregon's northern Cascade's start shedding their velvet between Labor Day and the 10th of September.

The rubs you mention, were they rubs made during the rut in November? I've always been a ground hunter, but if you found a good area where they rut and will be hunting the late archery hunt, then yes I'd hang a stand near the rubline.

Good luck!
