This is a picture of the buck my friend and co-worker killed on Oct.9, 2004. It's a 5x2 with great eyeguards. It is 23" wide. He took it in zone B2.

He said he hadn't seen a buck all season until he saw this one. We got some cold rain on Friday so he was anxious to be out on the hunt Saturday morning. Along about 8:30 he noticed some does moving down a manzanita covered ridge about 100 yards from him. He stopped to glass and behind the does came this buck! None of the deer saw him so he took his time and made a clean one shot kill. He didn't realize how big it was until he got up to it.

Thought you would enjoy seeing it. The dogs in the picture are just camp dogs and not relevant to the hunt.

Thats a very nice buck. Thanks for sharing. I have never hunted up there, I just stay close and hunt the A-zone. Don't see to many like that!

That is a nice looking buck. I used to hunt up there alot. It's amazing what comes out of the woodwork with a little weather. Congrats on a dandy buck.

Awsome Buck, now put that Red Heeler on 1/2 Rations.

olgrowth,here in the Oregon jungle.

Thanks for the nice comments from all of you. That is a really nice buck. He brought the antlers into work and they really are impressive. The picture really doesn't do them justice.

Oldgrowth, good observation! That poor dog does look more than a little overweight.

Two more week-ends left here in Northern CA. Let's hope for more weather. Who knows, maybe I'll get something worth posting.

Good luck to all.

Nice Buck there Steve, congrats to the hunter. I use to hunt up there in Trinity Co. back in the mid 70's when a childhood friend still lived there, we hunted right around the Hyampom-Hayfork area.
Good luck on your remaining days to hunt, get a big one.

Brian

manny15,
Not a cross, as this buck was taken probably 40 miles west of the line designated by Boone&Crockett. Just a really good Blacktail.
