WHAT CALIBER DO U GUYS AND GURLS LIKE TO USE ON BLACKTAILS?
I LIKE TO USE 7mm and 243.

I like to use a 300. Weatherby.Over kill? YES.But I like to be able to take a long shot If I have to....Devlin

.300 Win. Mag for the same reason as Devlin. Been using 180 grain Winchester Fail Safe. 100 percent weight retention. Lose less meat than with my 6mm.

.30-30 with open sites when I push the brush.

Steve

Right back at ya on the .30-.30 eelgrass. I take a 7mm also, but it seems to me that within 2 days of opening day all the bucks head to the thick brush, and there are not that many people that go after them. the .30 is perfect

ya in the brush or when it is raining really bad i either use a 30-30 or a 45-70.

.280 rem, great round and can make a long shot if needed. I hunt Northern Oregon and SW washington though so long shots are extremly rare.

I like the tried and true .270 Win. hand loads, 56 grs. H4831 with 130 grain Noslers. Kinda hard to beat for blackies.
