With A zone opening up yesterday just curious if anyone stuck one ? I traveled 175 from Hopland to Clear Lake on Saturday and it was only 66 at 11:30 am . That dosn't happen to often during this time of the year . Good luck this season , it has begun .

I drew blood before 6am on opening day.
Made my first bowkill.
Unfortunatley it was only a coyote at 25 yards.
I was still stoked about it.
Saw a number of does and fawns but no bucks.
I hope to access a real good piece of private ground later this week.
I'm loving this bowhunting stuff!

of a small blacktail I was lucky enough to get this opening day of the A zone in Monterey County, CA. In the evening I was hunting an area where I had spotted several bucks earlier in the day, but couldn't get close enough for a shot. I set up on a good trail only to have two bucks come in behind me. Upon picking up my scent, the first buck ran and got my attention. Fortunately the second buck hesitated just long enough for a shot. He went about 80 yards before folding. Yes, I would have to say luck was involved.

Congrats on the early success! Good looking buck, I am sure he will taste great. Thanks for posting, it's getting me pumped and ready to go.

ronaldo,

The first deer success story and pic of the year, to my knowledge! And a very nice buck to boot! Congratulations!
