i have a family member in the Redding area with a very large buck on their property. He is a five by five with eye gaurds. i havent figured out how wide but atleast 24 inches. i have a tag for the area but i know this wouldnt be hunting because i could shoot him from the house. Would you guys kill him or would you hunt in your normal area and settle for a smaller deer.

Tough question! Only you can decide. I would probably hunt my normal area and try to get one that way. I've killed a couple bucks that were hanging around our house in the past. Kind of leaves an empty feeling. It does fill up the freezer though!:)

Maybe if you could hold off until the last weekend.......? That way you could still have the whole season to have fun hunting. And who knows, you might kill an even bigger one.

Go to your normal hunting grounds. You will satisfy your off season daydreams sitting on your favorite ridge. I have a feeling if I shot a buck on my friends place, I would feel like I missed a year of deer hunting. If you end up shooting it and feel good about it, congrats to you.

I think their is nothing better than taking a big buck on public ground, it is really satisfying. But none the less a buck of that caliber doesnt come along every year. The decision is yours, but letting a buck that size go would probably keep me up at night. Keep us posted on your decision, and pictures if you harvest him.

I'd goto my normal stomping grounds till the end of the season. If I had not seen anything up to my standards I'd thump yhat buck from the living room window.

Well I finally got a visual on this buck and he is not a five by. He is a nice four with eye gaurds. He is about 22-24 wide and equally tall. He is heavy too. The more i think about it the less i want to shoot him. We have seen some good bucks in the alps and i would love to score on a nice alps blackie. Thanks for the replies and i wish the best of luck to all you guys. By the way i work at a hunting store in the sacramento area and two different guys came in one with the marbles elk tag and one with grizzly island unlimited bull. I would love to be in there shoes.

This is a no brainer! Get two B tags and use one to whack the private land monster. Good luck.
