Has anyone hunted any of the Golden Ram properties near Covalo? Heading over there in about a week was wondering what I could expect

I think it is west of Anthony peak near the ridge on the west side of Grindstone.

Golden ram have areas all over the place now...every where are their signs even crappie areas with no deer them til Dec, poor saps who hunt them are stupid and misled. they do a good sale pitch for sure! hell of a marketing ploy!

and yet they still keep coming ... and paying for dreams of the perfect b-zone spot. you can't buy know how,you can rent it from time to time. you just got to earn it.I think someone said "think outside the box" good luck. atleast your hunting!

Well just got back from the hunt. Shot a little forked horn. Wanted the meat for my x-zone hunt next week. My friend missed a nice 3x3. While we were there a guy in camp shot a real nice 5x5 with eye guards. It will be a book black tail. Saw many black bears. Should have shot the nice one I saw on day one but deceided to wait. Had a very long shot at one on day three but it was a little too long 520 yards on the finder. All in all I would buy the hunt again. It was bought in a REMF auction so it is for a good cause.

some of the ram have point requirements! so you are good to get the meat! what "x" zone? how wide was that "book buck?" and was its rack black?

ELK_Nuts what ranch did you hunt?I have been a G.R. member for many years and have hunted all the ranches in the area.Later in the season if the storms come you can take some very nice bucks of the ranches. There are tons off bears up there and its no problem to get one if you really wanted to.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-24-05 AT 01:05PM (MST)[p] That may have been the one we were sneaking around with playing tag with during bow season! black rack? lower mass, with 2 kicker?(one on each side)

The Ranch was the Bar-Z. The 5x5 might be the one you described. It is a true 5x5 almost looked typical and had a very dark rack.

Please do not take me very seriously!
I do know people who do though, and I do hunt with a few from the local tribe.... who also do tend to hop a fence or three!
just think all you GR members ...k!(slurp)
You see from my vantage point I see it all.....
do you know what I know?
I crippled bears, forked horns, guys scoping each other with their rifles!
I filled big green tag!(7 of us! all 20" 3pts are better). And I will say it was all done on privite! GR land? Anyone know of 10 large gut pyles latly?

Zone x-1. Have been hunting that zone for close to 30years now. Hunted it every year until it went to a draw. Now I draw it about every two years. Used to be a three point or better zone but not now. I also used to see a 100 deer or so in a weekend back then. Now unless you know where to go you are lucky to see 5-10 deer in a weekend.
