Im from arizona and am now going to school in oregon and plan on taking
full advantage of the upcoming blacktail hunt. Ive never hunted
blacktail, especially during the rut, i have some antlers for rattling
(do blacktail respond well to this), is it worth it to by doe
urine/estrus? For the rut is it more effective to slowly walk the
forest doing spot and stalk, or set up with some scent and rattles? any
help is appreciated

runningbird...blacktail bucks do respond well to rattling. Look for an area where the bucks have been beating the snot out of willows and small trees. The cold nights and cool days with very little wind are ideal for rattling! Hunt the doe groups, the bucks won't be far away!

Some guys have good success putting treestands over trails and make use of rattling and scent to lure bucks into range.

I've always had best success using large antlers and banging the bones as loud as possible. Be ready, they can and will come in fast at times.

Good luck this weekend!
