Any body hunt here before? I drive by the clearcuts to the East of the Morton highway all the time, looks real good. Hike in areas in there?

I've spent a lot of time in there, you will be hunting mostly clearcuts or re-prod, a good portion of the timber is gone. The hunting is OK, you will find it to be pretty crouded for the 1st couple miles. Murray also lets a pretty good number of friends and workers drive in on the weekends. (it's a who you know situation)

This year I did get the privledge of seeing a buck that was harvested only a couple miles from my house that scored 145 BC.

Their are several gates that you can walk in from:

National (Ashford)
Mineral (Mineral crk rd and Hyw 7)
Ladd(between Mineral and Morton West and East of Hwy 12)
Ladd Pass (West Fork Swamp)
Glenoma
Randle

This is most of the access points

Murray has approximately 50,000 acres but there is at least that much state and federal land mixed in with it.

Thanks, great info. I used to hunt that way on the Wheyerhauser land above Mineral lake that sold just two years ago. We own 100 acres near Mossyrock, so that MP land would be great to reach out of there, for a base-camp. What I liked about the Wheyerhauser land that sold was that it was hike-in. I know the last year I hunted it , 7 guys went in and 7 came out with bucks, me too. I also helped a guy drag a massive 4X6 out of there same day I drug mine out, I was beat.

Here is a picture of that big buck that was shot by a walk in hunter. Look close at the split eye guard, that is one nice blacktail.
