hey anybody see the smoking blacktail Angelo Nogara stuck in the A zone this year , spozed to be new P&Y state record , article says he hunted 21 days in a row to get a shot ,,,, also says was July 27th and that was at dark , so he left finding it till the next morning ,,,, cant help but wonder did the meat spoil ? is a GREAT deer just hope the meat didnt spoil so was just done for the horns , says was in Sonoma County ,,,, anybody here left a critter out all night in that neck of the woods and had the meat be ok ? congrads to him on a great buck ,,,,,

Not a P&Y state record, I believe it's a state record for the Pacific Hybrid categaory for CBH. That is if it's the same one I'm thinking of??????

BOHNTR, not sure if is the same as your thinking , but heres what was in the article ,,,

Three official Calif Bowman Hunters/State Archery Association scorers and a measurer for the Boone and Crockett Club measured my buck on Sept 28 2005 . He was named the Calif state-record non- typical blacktail buck taken with a bow with a score of 157 3/8 Pope and Young points . Incredibly , his antlers had an outside spread of 26 1/2 inches . as quoted in the mag article written by Angelo Nogora ,,,,

whats your take on the meat ? you think was ok or spoiled ? i just think it would be a shame to have wasted the meat ,,,

I know of that deer as well.....very nice non-typical. It was committee measured for CBH as the new state record for non-typical category. I was on the committee for the other state record mentioned. Lots of big critters arrowed in the golden state this year.

As for the meat, not sure, but I have arrowed bucks that time of year and boned them out without a problem.

I do understand your question about leaving a buck overnight that time of year. I've never done it thank goodness, nor do I know anybody who has. I certainly see how it could happen though. If you push him right at dark, you might not ever find him.

I suppose it depends on when the buck actually dies, and maybe where it was hit? I too hope that he was able to save the meat.
