Very nice buck. Did I see him out at Garths? Nice to see deer of that size still around after all the tribe hunting. Last year there were a few hogs killed, yours being one of them. Keep up the good work but next time you get a buck like that, "SMILE" for the camera.

Awesome blackie, congrats to you!

Sweeeeeeet Buck, how could you not smile, deep forks, heavy, knarly dropper coming off one side, small dropper on the other, I think I would still be smiling.

yes you did see him at garths. man i was so excited i couldn't smile. Here is the story. I live in a town that is out of the city limits so i can hunt right by my house. I probably have 45 acres that i can hunt. So i get home from school at about 3:00 and immediately grab my gun and head out into the woods. I had been hunting in the woods right next to my house for 3 or 4 years and shot a spike and a 2 pt. Well i didn't have a stand so i just still hunt and i have a pretty good route that i go on everytime i go down there. I am sneaking along getting ready to look into a smaller ravine that has a pretty good trail at the bottom of it and i see a deer. I put my binoculars on it and see that it is a buck. I didn't even think about the antlers. I just seen that it had a significant amount of mass and dark horns. It was only about 30 yards away so i raised my 308 with a strait 4 power scope on it. I am sure glad i have that scope. Because if it was a 3-10 and it was on 10 i probably would of had to turn it down. But anyways i put my crosshairs on him and shot and he jumped and ran off. I seen him run off and i can just barely remember him not using his leg very good. So i wait there a second in awe and i mosy on over to where he was standing. No blood. The only thing i could find was a small and i mean small tuft of hair. I mean like 8 pieces of hair. But i could follow his tracks pretty good. So i started following the tracks and You can't see very far in the stuff i hunt in. Maybe 40 yards. Well i am following him and i jump him probably 30 yards away. And he is off and i can't see him anymore. There was no way for another shot. So i was probably paralleling his tracks and come to an old skidder road. I look down the road to my left and all i can see is his head and horns looking at me. He is laying on the ground off to the side of the trail. He is now probably 25 yards. I raised my gun and looked at him and hesitated. I didn't really want to shoot him in the head. then i put my crosshairs on him and shot. He just started rolling. He probably rolled 3 yards. I run up to him and he is done. I look at him and am amazed. I had not really even thought about how big his horns are. I was so excited. I put my hands on his horns and hold him like you hold horns. then i lost it. I emptied my gun and ran up to my house. My brother 27 year old brother was at my house when i got home from school. He was going to hunt down there while i was at school but he just decided to lay on the couch and go and check out the window at our apple trees every once and awhile. anyways my mother heard the shot and called my brother who had just left about 15 minutes ago and he was immediately turned around and on his way back. Well i ran up to my house and my mom was waiting. I thought i was lying to her when i told her that i shot the biggest deer i had ever seen. I thought that when i went back down there that it wasn't going to be there and i was just dreaming it. Well i called my other brother who is like 30 and he lives probably 40 minutes away and i tell him he better get down here because this deer is big. Then me and my mom went down to him and sat there and my brother called and asked where we were and he came down and we gutted him and drug him out. Then to end the story i had to leave for a football game and didn't even get to stay and have what to me is the best time. The time where everybody comes and helps cape him out and talk and all that good stuff. But i had to miss it. Well anyways. There was the story. Wait there is more. I ended up hitting him right smack dab in the shoulder and all the damage was internal. When i got to the football game i was so excited. I was telling everybody. When the game got over at about 10:00 i had about 3 or 4 friends come over and see it. They thought i was lying that i shot a 6x7. I got the wall pedestal mount and i love it. It was a little extra. But i think it was worth it. Actually Garth the taxidermist got it done in about 3 and a half months so he could take it down to monroe sportsman show.

the shot at his head actually went in his eye socket and came out his jaw on the other side and didn't even mess up the face at all. Just a hole that you can't even see in the mount. Garth did an excellent job. He is one of the best in the state. If you don't know him he owns Fidalgo Taxidermy in Anacortes Washington. That is also the reason why his jaw is a little out of wack

If your football team won that night and you rushed for over 100 yards and scored a least 1 touchdown it would be the best day of your young life! And, later on that evening you and the homecoming queen got to know each other on a different level. Congrats.

That's a real hog blacktail. I've only seen one or two close to that in my life. Congrats.

thanks guys. Sorry to say ridge only one of those things happened that night.

No i think that was another kids that is younger than me named Jordan Wicker. I shot mine by big lake. above the fire hall if you know your way around.

That deer might be one of the ones i was watching behind big rock grocery. There were two monsters there for awile.
