Got lucky and found this guy bedded under a tree while my daughter and I were heading to the water hole to fill some water jugs for camp.31 yard shot in the neck as he stepped around the tree and had a 25 ft track job:).

Good Job JR!
I've been chasing around a couple of nice blackies with my son for over a month now with our bows.
We have had several close encounters.
I'm going to bust out the big guns for the B zone opener next month.
I can feel the pain of the backpack as we speak!

Thanks guys for the congrats.Just the begining of a long season.

Hey eelgrass did you get that new bow you were talking about a month ago???

JR, no I stuck with my recurve for one more year. Now I at least have enough gas money to hunt this year. LOL!

Next year for sure!

Steve,
Just noticed today that a few of the local Union 76 stations here are now down to $2.89 per gallon.

What really pisses me off is its 2.93 for gas in Oregon(Grants Pass) but the Diesel is still 3.43 a gallon. Its Highway robbery!!!

Hey J.R.

I have a vacation home in Selma and am coming up for the General Cascade Elk rifle hunt for the first time. I hear there are some elk on Sextom Summit and we plan to work mtns east of there. We're trying to stay within daily driving distance. Got any advice for me?

(BTW, I just sent in a pic to MM of my best archery buck yet (Ca blacktail) taken this past weekend. Hope to post a pic soon.)

Hitechhunter,Ive got some buddies that live in Cave Junction that say the elk herds are growing up Onion mt rd and eight mile.I was gonna check it out this year but have too much hunting going on in Wyoming and Calif.Hope you have good luck where you are going.Post those pics if you are successful.
