Looks like I'm getting burned out of my high country blacktail hunt.
Big fires raging in the Trinities have everything shut down.
I'm scrambling to put something together (backpacks are loaded & ready).
Call forrestry in the area (Weaverville) for updates.

Those are some of my old stomping grounds. Is that the same fire that burned Oregon Mountin again a few weeks ago. I miss hunting in that area. Good luck to you on your hunt.

We are burned out too. It really sucks! been looking forward to my annual Alps trip all year. Keep in mind the whole eastern portion of the alps is still open (Coffee creek, Big Flat, Stuarts fork trailheads, etc.) We are headed to the Yolla Bolly.

That's not good!!! Here in Wa.. we are now over 350,000 acres burned and our elk area is starting to look like a no go this year. Buck areas have also been closed so far..... What a bummer. I'd like to be out scouting, but I can't.

these fires in north west ca have been burning for a month like you should have known.... wet and colder soon.

No reason to go to the Yolla Bolly Wilds. All the deer migrated down to the wintering grounds due to the fires last month.

When are you going?
I am leaving Oct. 5th for my blacktail hunt. Some of which was going to be in the Alps?! :(
Good luck to you!!!

They have the access to my mountains closed in the Alps right now.
I'll be in Arizona hunting elk during that time space.:D
