Myself and three hunting partners Kevin, Anthony and Rick hunted in the high mountain wilderness of B zone for the opener. Had a great time living off our backs for a few days. I was able to harvest a nice buck opening morning, and thanks to a great group of guys we packed it out on monday. Saw a few other bucks, but this was the only good buck we were able to get close enough to harvest.Sorry but the pictures are a little blurry since I has to format them so the wouldnt take to long to download.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-21-06 AT 08:34PM (MST)[p]Way to go on a nice buck and ditto what HH said about 4 pointers! Don't see many of them anymore.

No I have not rough scored him, Im guessing aqround 110" way short of B&C.I have a few larger that dont make it so I didnt bother, but like HH said its always sweet to get a four point Blackie. Hope there will be some more posted here soon, we need to get more Blacktail hunters on this site.

HEY PAL

my setup includes Swarovski Binoculars and spotting scope. Leica 1200 yard range finder, and as for my gun it is a custom built 300 WSM built by Maraviov's gunsmithing and is topped with a 6.5x20 leupold which I sent and had a custom engraved bullet drop compensating dial on it that works excellent. Thanks for asking

gotta question about your scope, how often do you get to use the target knobs in an actual hunting situation, i mean, have you had the time to dial up on a buck ?...

reason being I've been contemplating getting one like it..thanks Manny

Manny I use the dial alot. Some friends of mine were shooting deer at incredible distances with good accuracy, so this is how I was introduced to the target turrets. My first weapon was a 300 ultra mag with a leupold 6.5-20 with mil dot reticle. I shot this gun at alot of distances and was comfortable shooting out to 700 yards. My newest gun thee 300 wsm which was custom built has a 6.5-20 leupold with the varmit hunter reticle, but this time I gave leupold all of my guns info and for about $175 they installed the custom engraved bullet drop compensating dial you see in the picture. This thing is sweet all distances are marked right on the dial out to 1000 yards and is very accurate. I dont write on posts how far away I have shot animals simply because most people think I am blowing smoke. In answer to your question I only use the dial to dial in animals that are far away and most of the time are completly unawre of my presence. Not only do you usually have plenty of time if you miss the animal has no Idea where you are or where to run so you usually get multiple opprotunities should you happen to miss.

Hope that helps send me a P.M if you have any questions

"miss" dailed up to 1000 yards! lol
my nephew shoots golf balls 700yrds out..... all day! (.308 sniper spec Springfield Arms custom.....)
I have shot B zone Blackies past 700(I have a "hot" 7mm) so....
I know it an science and lot of time getting to know your rifle!

Beautiful Buck! Congratulations!

I'll say this buckmaster, you know where to have your rifle work done. Maroviov is fantastic!

Hey Buckmaster28,

Can to tell me alittle about Maraviov's gunsmithing. I am thinking about getting a new gun and would like to get something nice and well built. Much appreciated.

Jeff

Sorry for the delayed response. The stock is a high tech, very lightweight and was custom painted by my gunsmith, and mossback is correct Craig is a great gunsmith and did a awesome job on this gun.
