D-6 Low Country Buck

Last night I took a little boat ride with my dog on a local reservoir...of course I threw in my rife "just in case...".

As I came around a long bend I could see a solitary grey body on the hillside approx 200-250 yds ahead. I quickly pulled my boat over to the shoreline and got out my spotting scope. sure enough, it was a nice buck...one I knew I couldnt pass on. At this particular lake there is a healthy population of non-migratory "eastern blacktails". Usually I just see lots of does, fawns, and spikes. But this was something much more to my liking! After sizing him up I made my way uphill to a large rock. Using the rock for a rest I took the shot and dumped the buck where he stood feeding...which was only about 20yds up from the waterline....which makes for an easy trip back to the truck!

Here he is....
