Well Oregon's western blacktail season closed today, and I decided to go try my usual honey hole on the Calf Oregon boarder on the Oregon side they locked it up and made it a monument 5 years ago, I thought for sure I would find the kind of bucks we used to see in there, all I saw was other hunters.

I gave up guiding back in 2001 because I couldn't see myself being part of the deer decline in our area, it just keeps getting worse, I saw two does today all day walking and glassing in the rain, climbing up as high as my knee would let me.

All I gotta say is 10 years ago I quit buying a fishing license cause fishing just isn't what it used to be, so I've not bought a fishing license since, I think I'm gonna do the same with these blacktails here in S-oregon man I wanna say the deer are at a all time low down by at least 70%, I seen more cat tracks this year then ever.

I think the truth hurts there's to many cats and fish and game keep selling to many tags?

LAST EDITED ON Nov-04-06 AT 09:17AM (MST)[p]you sure or just joking i didn't see any claw marks? the reason i took a pic of this track cause it looked human, but then we saw the others and they were round with no claw marks, this track was a douuble track (two in one)...

well I should read your 2nd post better---hard to tell it was a double track in the pic---so it may indeed be a cat track, but the shape in the pic makes it look like a bear--can you get zoom in and post it again, so one can see more detail---chris

my son accidently deleted the other pics, it was muddy who knows for sure

Bear, the toes are all forward of the pad and do not wrap around. Some bears do not leave claw marks.

Black bear, left rear, 225 maybe 250 lbs. Cinnamon phase with limp and a severe case of gas from the wild rasberries he just gorged himself on...
