Looking for information on Kodiak Adventures on Kodiak Island. They run the typical transport operation that you find on Kodiak Island for Sitka Deer hunting. The operation is run by Larry Jarrett. I have found that he has been in the business of outfitting and guiding for many years, but have not found any independent hunters that have gone to his camp on Kodiak. I have talked with the provided list of clients, but would like to talk with someone not provided by the outfitter. If anyone has been on either a fishing or hunting trip with Mr. Jarret, either in Idaho or on Kodiak, your assistance with information would be appreciated. Please PM if you are more comfortable with that form of communication with regard to this subject matter. Thanks in advance.

No personal experience with them but did find them when we were researching our trip. What I didn't like was that their hunts were real late. Chance of bucks not having antlers. Look like a good operation and price was right. We wound up booking with Ninilchick Charters for November 2007. Looked at everyone we could find and they worked the best. Good luck and if I can help with any other info you may be looking at let me know.

Do you all know about the winter kill that is happening on Kodiak right now?

It is no secret as it has been discussed thruout the winter on several Alaskan discussion boards. ADF&G had news releases last Nov and Dec about several areas of concern also.

It ain't pretty.

I have also looked at Nimilchick Charters, and was very impressed. I think you will be in good hands. I have also read a few of the reports out of Alaska about the winter kill. We were going to book a couple of years out (2009) but have decided to just hold the time frame in our schedules for a year or so, then fill it with a Sitka hunt if the timing looks right. Not sure who we will go with.

I hadn't heard about the winter kill. Man that sucks. The deer had just rebounded from the last winter kill... I was on the "rock" for the month of October this fall and there were deer every where! When the sun would come out the deer were like rabbits! It was not uncommon to be able to spot twenty or thirty deer in one sitting. There was a lot of bucks and some were really fat and healthy, here is a picture of a buck I named the porky forky!

I am hoping that some of the big bucks will makje it through... they sure looked good in the fall......
