sit on any water early and late or trails leading to and from.... and stay alert...5 min distraction can cause you to miss that dink!

thanks for the tips so far. Its a junior hunt for fort hunter liggett either sex. Its rifle. ia m going to use a .243. I am trying to get a buck though.

OK, you will be fairly close to Paso but 150 miles from Santa barbara. Those bucks should be rutting hard then at least for the first half of oct. if you find does a buck will be close by. You will have a good hunt.

look at areas 9, 12, 13 and if they have burned the grass off any of the open TA you might check them out good luck, you WILL see lots of critters unless something has changed a lot in the 3 years since i last hunted it ,,,,

Watch the Oaks if the Acorns are dropping like they are already in N. Calif. then hunt the Oaks. Also, if you can glass the brush and Oak early and late when the deer are feeding. But most of and this is just my opinion HUNT all day no matter what the weather is, even if it's hot, you will not get one sitting at home on the couch. These deer sometimes will get up in the middle of the day and go for water or switch their bedding spots as the sun moves to stay in the shade. Like I said early and this is just the way I hunt, HUNT, HUNT and HUNT as long as you are out their you have a chance but if you go home or back to camp it's alot harder to get one.

Good luck
