Washington Archery Blacktail

I finally tagged out on my archery Blacktail, I hunted my butt off for the last week and a half. The bucks were making themselves a little scarce this year. Finally this guy gave me a chance.

After I shot him, my shot was marginal, he went about 1 mile and died in a deep river canyon. When he died he fell off a 30ft cliff and into the river, I had a heck of a time finding a way down to him. Of course he floated to the opposite bank, I had to wade thigh deep to get across, with snow on the ground to boot. This was the toughest recovery I have ever had, it was rough enough I initially thought I wouldn't be able to find a way down to him. It took me most of the day to pick my way up through the snow covered cliffs and steep canyon, was I ever glad to hit the road.

Sorry for the weak pictures, when I pulled out the camera it only let me take a couple pics and the batteries went dead.

Kind of a unique buck, not a monster but respectable.

Full deer boned out and strapped into my Eberlestock, I love this pack.
