Need some information on a unit in OR

Fellow Hunters,
For some reason the "Wall Hanger" trophy blacktail buck has eluded me for the last 10 years. Looking for a nice 110-130 buck to put on the wall.

Anyway a friend of mine told me to start putting in for the muzzleloader hunt in the Applegate Unit. He says it will take 3 years before drawing. He also states this hunt occurs during the "rut".

Does anyone have information on this hunt? Does anyone have pictures of bucks taken from this unit? What about access....public or private land?

Excellent question. I have 10 or 11 NR points in OR and I'm considering blowing them away on the Applegate unit. I will never draw a NR mule deer permit in the units that I apply for.

I can guarantee you that a 110 to 130 buck is a slam dunk on that unit. If I were you I would hold out for a 125+ buck! You might even consider holding out for a 140 gross type buck. Good luck on obtaining information.
